Refugee Health Education

Navigating through the complexities of a new environment in the United States is very challenging. Through our collaboration with community- and faith-based organizations (mosques, cultural centers, foundations, associations, school districts), SI conducts in-person and virtual education sessions, workshops, and webinars to the Afghan refugees. These education sessions are evidence-based, culturally congruent, trauma-informed, and tailored specifically for Afghan refugees.

Our refugee health educational and informational activities include innovative social media and video content development.

Our education courses include but are not limited to:

  • Refugee Health (general)

  • Navigating health system (differences in Afghanistan versus the United States).

  • Refugee Mental Health

  • Trauma impact on health and well-being

  • Refugee children and youth health (child trauma, ACEs, parenting)

  • Addressing refugee children and youth health at the school setting

  • COVID-19 prevention and vaccines
